Behind the Glass: Crafting a Stunning Commercial for the Connecticut Maritime Aquarium

Last week, Moving Pictures LLC had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with our friends at the Connecticut Maritime Aquarium to produce a dynamic 15-second on-air commercial. This project was a blend of creativity, technical precision, and teamwork, as we partnered closely with their amazing creative team to bring their vision to life.

The Challenge: Filming in a Busy Aquarium

Filming in an active aquarium is no easy feat. The bustling environment meant navigating crowds while capturing pristine visuals. On top of that, fish tanks present a unique set of challenges, with reflections bouncing off every surface. To overcome this, we came prepared.

Light Control:

To combat the reflections, we brought in extensive blackout materials, transforming the space to minimize unwanted light interference.

Precision Lighting:

We used tube lighting outfitted with specialized grids to maintain control over light spill, ensuring every shot was clean and focused.

Premium Equipment:

Our Sony FX6 camera paired with Sony G Master Primes delivered cinematic quality, allowing us to showcase the aquarium's beauty with vibrant clarity.
